We’re getting into that time of year and holiday season that is often fraught with paradoxes — we want to celebrate and do things that make us feel good. Let our hair down, raise a glass, join a holiday party, eat, drink and be merry!
Yet often the process of “merry-making” leaves us feeling sluggish, sick, hungover and generally worn down.
Specifically, not for all people but certainly for many, alcohol plays a big factor in all of that.
Personally, I always enjoyed a few drinks with friends, a cozy pub on a cold winters night, a glass of wine with dinner. Not every night but when the occasion called for it.
But about 18 months ago I started getting headaches with just one or two drinks.
Finally, about 6 months ago I decided that reducing the frequency of a drink wasn’t a sufficient strategy and I needed something more substantial so I committed to not having a drink for the rest of this year. And I haven’t.
What’s been interesting to me is how many other people in my social circles have commented to me (when they learn that I’m not drinking) that they too would like to cut back or even stop drinking alcohol.
Maybe it’s a reflection of my age demographic, or maybe it’s a sign of a bigger trend.

So I became intrigued when I was introduced to today’s guest, Belle Robertson.
Belle is a blogger and creator of TiredofThinkingAboutDrinking.com. In a nutshell, she helps people stop drinking and in turn gain energy, empathy, pride and purpose.
